Our Work Together

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is no single approach that fits everyone. Each person is unique, and what helps one client may not help another. I draw on a range of therapeutic models, adapting to your individual needs and the pace that feels right for you.

My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, which places you, your experiences, values, and inner wisdom at the heart of our sessions. Alongside this, I integrate elements of psychodynamic therapy to explore how your past experiences and unconscious patterns may be influencing your present, allowing for deeper self-understanding.

I also use aspects of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to help you recognise unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical strategies for change, as well as mindfulness and grounding techniques to bring awareness to the body and emotions in the here and now.

Together, these approaches allow us to explore both understanding and action, insight and growth, in a way that feels balanced, supportive, and meaningful.

Beginning counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been holding things in for a while or are unsure where to start. Our work together offers a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without judgement or pressure.

Counselling is a shared process where we work collaboratively to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and the challenges you face. Together, we can begin to make sense of what feels confusing or overwhelming and create space for change, growth, and self-compassion.

‘‘It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.’’

Understanding Your Needs

Our first session will be an opportunity to explore in depth what has brought you to counselling and to develop a clearer understanding of your needs. We’ll look together at what you’re hoping to achieve through therapy and begin to uncover the themes, patterns, and experiences that may be shaping how you feel today.

There’s no right or wrong way to begin. I’ll meet you wherever you are in your journey, listening with care and curiosity, and offering reflections that can help you see yourself and your experiences in a new light.

The Counselling Relationship

Counselling offers a space for understanding, healing, and growth, a place where you can begin to make sense of what feels difficult and reconnect with your own inner resources. At the heart of this process is the relationship we build together: one of trust, warmth, and compassion.

My role is to offer steadiness and support as you explore your experiences and begin to see new ways of relating to yourself and your world. Whether you come seeking clarity, comfort, or change, I’ll walk alongside you with care and understanding, creating space for insight and growth at a pace that feels right for you.

If you feel ready to begin, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can create a space where change feels possible and understanding can deepen.
